Vancouver bowler wins 4A girls state title

UNIVERSITY PLACE — Madison Crockett of Vancouver's Skyview High School won the Class 4A girls bowling state championship by 57 pins on Friday at Narrows Plaza Bowl.
Crockett had a six-game total of 1,324 pins for a 220.6 average. Kayla Zabel of Everett's Cascade High totaled 1,267 for a 211.2 average. Alyssa Feller of Puyallup's Rogers High (1,245) was third.
Battle Ground's Wylicia Faley, the defending 4A individual champion, was fifth at 1,216, just behind fourth-place teammate Adrianne Schock (1,242).
Battle Ground, the defending team champ, has a commanding lead over Cascade going into Saturday's final day of competition.
In the 3A/2A/1A tournament, Janaye Kilgore of Longview's Mark Morris won with 1,295 pins, 84 more than runner-up Cortnie Brathovd of Lacey's North Thurston.
Last year's champ, Karissa Shiftlet of Kennewick, was fourth (1,183).
Mark Morris, the defending champ, has a narrow 3A/2A/1A team lead over Timberline of Lacey and R.A. Long of Longview.
