A day to celebrate stairway walks

Saturday marks Stairway Walks Day, part affirmation of pedestrian power and part celebration of the region’s inclined pathways.
The 15 simultaneous free walks, courtesy of Feet First, begin at 10 a.m. They will include neighborhoods from Fremont, to Maple Leaf, to Queen Anne. There will be stairway walks in Burien, Bellevue and Mercer Island, too.
The featured routes are described in the book “Seattle Stairway Walks: An Up-and-Down Guide to City Neighborhoods,” by Cathy and Jake Jaramillo.
“In our hilly neighborhoods, walking stairways is a great way to exercise and encourage community health, to get to know your neighborhood and meet other people,” said Feet First Executive Director Lisa Quinn.
For more information, contact Darcy Edmunds at firstname.lastname@example.org or 206-652-2310, Ext. 5. Space is limited to 20 people per walk. RSVP in advance at feetfirst.org.
