Sunday TV Picks: ‘Game of Thrones’ season premiere

“Death is coming for everyone and everything.” HBO’s massive, gritty (and very popular) fantasy series — based on the novels by George R.R. Martin — returns for its third season. Arm yourself. There are huge battles, betrayals, Wildlings and dragons headed your way. Consider yourself warned. Season premiere, 9 p.m. Sunday on HBO (seattletimes.com/tvlistings).

“Call the Midwife,” 8 p.m. (KCTS): Jenny celebrates her birthday; Jenny worries about a patient’s safety; Trixie and Sister Evangelina look after the daughter of a Swedish ship’s captain.
“The Good Wife,” 9 p.m. (CBS): When a Supreme Court ruling could result in a life sentence for Colin Sweeney, Will and Alicia rush to trial unprepared; Diane re-evaluates her relationship with Kurt McVeigh.
“Army Wives,” 9 p.m. (Lifetime): Joan is disappointed to be pulled from combat; Latasha’s son is rushed to the emergency room; Gloria receives her divorce papers; Maggie and Eddie adjust to their new home; the men are moved to a dangerous outpost in Afghanistan.
“The Walking Dead,” 9 p.m. (AMC): Rick and the others consider the defense of the prison as the Governor’s impending attack looms.
“All-Star Celebrity Apprentice,” 10 p.m. (NBC): The celebrities must create original, three-dimensional artwork; one contestant has a difficult time raising funds; a contestant makes big promises but doesn’t deliver.
“Chopped,” 10 p.m. (Food): The appetizer basket contains a “heady’’ ingredient; in the entree round one chef plays with fire; the final ingredients are yellow rice and persimmon.
