Rainiers win sixth straight, beat Tucson

TACOMA — Brian Sweeney combined with two relievers on a four-hitter as the Tacoma Rainiers won their sixth straight Pacific Coast League game, 4-1 over Tucson Monday night at Cheney Stadium.

Sweeney (3-0) allowed two hits and a walk in six scoreless innings, lowering his earned-run average to 2.78.

Reliever Brian Moran gave up an unearned run in two innings, and Lucas Luetge struck out two in a perfect ninth to earn his first save.

Mike Zunino put Tacoma ahead in the second when he hit a leadoff triple and scored on a ground out.

Liddi's solo homer in the sixth put the Rainiers (15-10) ahead 2-0, and Nick Franklin added a run-scoring single in a two-run seventh. Franklin is hitting .379 and Eric Thames, who went 2 for 4, is hitting .354 for the Rainiers.
