Stefan Romero's slam leads Tacoma past New Orleans, 14-1

NEW ORLEANS — Stefan Romero hit a grand slam and Tacoma pounded 14 hits in a 14-1 Pacific Coast League rout of the New Orleans Zephyrs on Saturday.

Romero also doubled and drove in five runs for the Rainiers (22-15). Rich Poythress also went deep, and catcher Jesus Sucre was 3 for 5. Nick Franklin, batting .340, went 1 for 2 with three walks and scored three runs.

Tacoma starter Andrew Carraway left with one out in the fourth inning after allowing only two hits and no runs. Brian Sweeney (4-0) got the victory in relief.
