Rainiers shut down Sky Sox in 5-2 victory

TACOMA — Three Rainiers pitchers handcuffed the Sky Sox as Tacoma beat Colorado Springs 5-2 Wednesday night in a Pacific Coast League game at Cheney Stadium.

Starter James Paxton (5-6) allowed both runs in five innings. Lucas Luetge followed with three scoreless innings, and Logan Bawcom pitched the ninth for his 14th save.

Stefen Romero had two hits and two runs batted in for the Rainiers (51-36).

At Vancouver 7, Everett 3

Jordan Leyland drove in two runs and scored twice as the Canadians (12-8) defeated the AquaSox (15-5).

Colton Turner (1-2) allowed two earned runs on four hits in 62 / 3 innings for the hosts.

Jamodrick McGruder had two hits and an RBI for Everett.
