Ryan Looney, who recently completed his seventh season as men’s basketball coach at Seattle Pacific, has accepted the same position at Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego.

Looney departs as SPU’s third all-time winningest coach with a 164-51 record.

During his tenure, the Falcons won at least 20 games each year and made NCAA Division II tournament appearances all seven seasons.

Grant Leep, former Mount Vernon High School and UW standout, has been named the interim coach.

Notes

• Washington State men’s basketball coach Ernie Kent has lifted his restriction on transferring center Valentine Izundu and will allow him to visit San Diego State, per a source, the Spokesman-Review reported.

The source said Izundu will also visit Fresno State and UNLV.

Kent initially included SDSU on a list of schools Izundu was restricted from contacting on the grounds that he believed improper contact was made between the parties during a spring break trip Izundu took to San Diego.

Maliea Luquin of Seattle Pacific won the GNAC women’s heptathlon. The senior finished the two-day, seven-event test with a career-high 4,738 points, beating Ellie Logan of Northwest Nazarene by 197.

• UW’s Izaic Yorks won the Pac-12 men’s track athlete of the week award after a 1,500-meter time of 3:37.74, the fastest in the NCAA this season

• Seattle Reign FC midfielder Kim Little was voted the NWSL player of the week.
